Serve on our Board of Trustees

Apr 06, 2022

Oldham County Public Library recently lost a beloved library trustee. Treasurer David Hutchinson passed away suddenly after a short illness on March 11, 2022. Mr. Hutchinson was a regular library user and happy presence around the LaGrange branch. He made sure he knew everyone’s name and never failed to ask how your day was going. His financial acumen as a retired CPA was a wonderful gift to the library in his capacity as Board Treasurer, a position he held since the fall of 2015. His greatest goal was to see a new branch in Goshen, a project which was off to a firm start before he fell ill. No one could ever replace Mr. Hutchinson and his many contributions, but the library is seeking to find an individual that is willing to continue his work and see his dream fulfilled.

The Library wishes to identify dedicated individuals who have a passion for libraries and the ability to effectively advocate for them. While it would be fortunate to find someone with skills in finance or accounting, all residents of Oldham County are welcome to apply. The Board of Trustees is responsible for establishing policy, approving the budget, and ensuring that adequate funds are available to finance the budget. In addition to overseeing the library's finances and the library director, the Board is also responsible for understanding the library's mission, programs, and services delivered to the community. Skills in organizational leadership, human resources, project management, building programs, or government relations would also be welcome. The most important quality in a trustee is a commitment to supporting the library within the community. This is a volunteer position.

Applications are available at all library locations or online.
