There is something for everyone this summer at the Oldham County Public Libraries! No matter your age or location, we have something going on for you. Check out all the events and get to a library!

Children's Programs

Children's Programs

Wee Readers- for Children ages 2 years and younger

This program is designed to help parents of young children start sharing the joys of reading at an early age! Parents will record books read to their child. Once the reading log is complete, the child will receive a pass to the end of summer pool party and the parents will be entered into a prize drawing for a dinner for two. Register in person at any Oldham County Library

Countdown to Kindergarten

Countdown to Kindergarten is your child’s gateway into school readiness. Participants will receive a free t-shirt that is their ticket to fun events this summer. These events are geared specifically to build excitement for school and to introduce children to their peers. Click Here for More Information!

Every Hero Has a Story- For Children up to the 5th Grade

Participants can read anything they like this summer– books, e-books, magazines, newspapers, listen to audio books or try a Playaway. Reading a little bit every day, they will fill in the reading log for every 15 minutes read. Once 5 reading hours have been completed (and reading log has been filled out), participants can come into the library and get a prize, a swim party pass and enter the grand prize drawing! Teen Programs

Teen Program

Teens registered for the Summer Reading Challenge will keep track of their reading online or by using a paper reading log. Reading one book earns teens coupons and a single prize entry for our grand prize drawing. Prizes include: Galaxy tablets, flat-screen TVs, gift cards & gift baskets. Reading a second book earns teens a ticket to our Mini Lock-in at All About Kids and another prize entry. Read three books to complete the program and earn another grand prize entry and a ticket to our Teen Only Pool Party at the Aquatic Center. Teens can read more books to earn more entries into the prize drawing. Reading submissions of students from OC schools will be sent electronically to ensure credit for any school assignments. Adult Programs

Adult Summer Program

Participating in the Adult Summer Reading Program is very simple– just show up! Every time you visit the library, stop at the front desk & fill out a prize slip. For every event you attend, you get 5 prize entries! At the end of the summer, we’ll draw winners from each branch. Win prizes like Roku Players, Chromecasts, gift certificates to restaurants, bookstores, app stores & more! You can also participate in the weekly challenges to be entered into a drawing for a puzzle prize pack at the end of summer. Don’t miss out– there’s lots happening at the Library this summer!
