Novelist: Novellist is a service provided by KYVL. It has eaverything, from author read-a-likes to series information. You can also search by author, series, title, or even plot. (Note- This is a free service for Kentucky residents and library users. You may need to log in for this, or visit the KYVL page direct to login to a new session. Contact a librarian for password and login name.)

 

What to Read?

Whichbook: Which Book helps you find books based on what you are in the mood for. Rate the categories of interest to find a book specifically tailored to your preferences. Want a happy, funny, medium sized book that's not too demanding? slide the bars to indicate and see a list of books that fit the criteria.

 

Looking for Similar Books...

Litmap: Literature map is neat way to find similar authors and books. Type the name of a favorite author into the seach and see an interactive map. The names closes to the center name are the most similar to the search. The farther out, the more the styles and authors differ. Click another name within the map to restart.

 

Reviews of New Books

litmob: Litmob is a fairly new website designed with young adults in mind. They review a wide range of contemporary fiction and non-fiction.

Powell's Books: Powell's books, is a store in Portland, Oregon. It has some great links to literary blogs, interviews with authors, and fun book suggesting. It might give you some ideas!

Kid's Reads: Kid'sreads is specifically designed to help children's bookclubs, but they have reviews of books and reading suggestions as well. Their discussion guides might be a good resource for family story time as well.
