Resources for Book Clubs

In addition to the information you will find in the discussion kits tucked in with the OCPL Book Club Kits, OCPL has other books to enliven your meetings and help you choose your future books! Check out:

The Book Club Companion: A Comprehensive Guide to the Reading Group Experience, by Diana Loevy (2006), has readings lists, discussion starters, recipes and ideas for theme parties and club trips.

Good Books Lately: The One-stop Resource for Book Groups and Other Greedy Readers, by Ellen Moore and Kira Stevens (2004), has advice on how to start a group, lists of “best and worst” book groups, book-group troubleshooting, and tips on generating lively discussions.

And for fiction books with a “book club” theme, try:

Angry Housewives Eating Bon-bons, by Lorna Landvik (2003)

The Book Club, by Mary Alice Monroe (1999)

The Jane Austen Book Club, by Karen Joy Fowler (2004)

Murder of the Month, by Elizabeth C. Main (2005)

(These are available at OCPL as single books, not as book club kits … yet!)
