To access
digital materials at Kentucky Libraries Unbound you will need:
- a valid library card
- Access to the Internet
(high-speed preferred)
- Free software for the computer
and/or device on which you wish to use the downloaded material
Digital
downloads can be enjoyed at home, at work, or when you travel, but are
generally not for use on the computers
in your library (this is due to licensing and security issues). Downloads
to your computer can then be transferred to an MP3 player. Downloads will not
work with an IPod.
You may
check out 10 items at a time. Items check out for 21 days. You do not need to return a borrowed
item. The item will stay on your account
until the lending period has elapsed and the title is automatically 'returned'
to the library. Only Adobe® eBooks may be
returned early. Your items cannot be renewed,
but you can check them out again if they are available when your checkout
expires.
The first time you download a
checked-out item from Kentucky
Libraries Unbound you must first download the software necessary to play your
checkout. Each type of media requires its own free software. Downloading takes some time and concentration but is only
necessary the first time you download. Instructions
for downloading the software are on the Kentucky Libraries Unbound Website’s
“Digital Media Help”. You may want to read the “Quick Start Guide” in “Digital
Media Help” before checking out items.
You may put items on hold.
You will receive an email indicating the title is available. The hold remains
available to you for 48 hours after the email is sent. If you do not respond to
the email notification within 48 hours, your hold will expire.
