Description of Library Databases
The following is a brief description of the research databases offered by the Oldham County Public Library. If you are interested in learning how to use any of these services, please consider taking the free Library Database class offered through the computer lab at the Main Library in LaGrange.
Kentucky Virtual Library |
Britanica, Worldbook Encyclopedia, Novelist, EBSCOHost, ProQuest The Kentucky Virtual Library is a group of databases that provide information for academic research, for life-long learning, and for entertainment and enlightenment.

Reference USA |
A resource for information about US businesses Information about 14 million US businesses.
Information sources include: Yellow/white pages, annual reports, 10-Ks and other SEC information, government data, business magazines, USPS, internet research, and the U.S. Census Bureau. |
Learning Express Library |

America's Genealogy Bank |
America's GenealogyBank provides Web-based access to millions of the United States' core genealogical records from 1652 to the present day. Through basic name search and advanced search options, genealogists can easily find and browse digital images of American historical genealogies, obituaries, marriage notices, birth announcements, casualty lists, military and government documents and other essential primary sources. It also provides the full text of modern U.S. newspaper obituaries and enhanced Social Security Death Index (SSDI) records. Significantly, each of America's GenealogyBank's five historical or modern collections is updated with new content on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. Resources include:

ProQuest has partnered with MyFamily.com to create Ancestry® Library Edition, one of the most important genealogical collections available today. It has unparalleled coverage of the U.S. and the U.K., including census, vital, church, court, and immigration records, as well as record collections from Canada and other areas. This collection of more than 4,000 databases and 1.5 billion names is essential to having a complete genealogy collection and its valuable content is a strong complement to HeritageQuest Online. This resource is only available in the library only. It may not be accessed from a personal computer.

Heritage Quest |
A resource for census data, family records and local histories. This collection assembles every extant U.S. federal census, banking and military records, genealogies, local histories, primary source materials, and genealogical and local history serials. An ongoing project (new content is added weekly), HeritageQuest Online will grow to encompass obituaries, Freedman's Bank Records, Revolutionary War Pension and Bounty Land Warrant index and additional materials. Oldham County Public Library patrons can access this collection using computers in the library or elsewhere. You will need to have a library card to log in.
