Under the general direction of the Children’s Services Librarian, a Children’s Programmer provides library services and programming for children up to twelve years in age. The Children’s Programmer conducts both onsite and offsite Outreach programming interacting with the public and with other staff.
Qualifications / Experience:
A Bachelor’s degree in early childhood development or elementary education, or combination of some post-secondary education and relevant work experience is required. Experience with children’s programming and/or children’s literature is preferred. Must be able to meet the requirements for Library Experience certification established by the Kentucky State Board for the Certification of Librarians. Also required is basic computer experience with standard office software, including Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel & Publisher. Also familiar with Google including Google Documents & Google Calendar., email, and internet usage. A valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving history required as well as personal transportation that can be used for business travel is required.

Employee may need to carry, push, pull, or lift up to 30 pounds. Proper lifting techniques required. Push and pull fully loaded (50-100 pounds) book trucks. Must have ability to work under pressure, coordinating multiple responsibilities simultaneously, and meet firm deadlines.
